Dry-Test Moisture Tester Kit

Complete Dry Test Moisture kit consists of a dryer unit, canister and scale. Convenient means for determining moisture content of corn silage, hay, haylage or high moisture grains. The colour of the dry-test dryer unit may vary.  Instructions:  Place the digital scale on a flat, stable surface and turn it on. Place the empty Dry Test Canister on the scale and press TARE/ZERO. Add 100 g of the material being tested and spread it evenly across the canister without compacting the material.

Place the Dry Test Canister on the heater, plug the unit into the appropriate power supply, and turn it on. Allow the material to dry for 20 minutes. Carefully remove the hot canister and weigh the material. Record the weight and return the canister to the heater.

Continue drying the material in 5-minute intervals, weighing it after each interval. Continue until the weight remains unchanged between readings. The final stable weight represents the dry matter remaining in the material.

To calculate moisture, subtract the final dry weight from the original 100 g. With a 100 g starting weight, the weight lost during drying directly represents the moisture percentage. For example, if the final dry weight is 87.4 g, the material contains 12.6% moisture and 87.4% dry matter.

Moisture % = Starting Weight − Final Dry Weight

Always use a representative portion of material and distribute it evenly in the Dry Test Canister to allow proper airflow and consistent drying.
